"We live in a society that never stands still," says Anita Boes. "We are expected to always be active and accessible. We are used to being constantly on the move. "We live in a society that never stands still," says Anita Boes. "We are expected to always be active and accessible. We are used to being constantly on the move. But what does that actually do to our brains and bodies? Life anno 2026 requires a hefty dose of mental resilience. But how do we ensure that we maintain this mental resilience as much as possible?"
Anita Boes will answer these and other questions during the in-depth evening. Besides focusing on theory, there is also room for practical elaboration. Through awareness exercises, attendees get a better view of their body's (dis)tensions. Attendees can immediately put the skills they have learned into practice at home.
Yin and yang
Together, it explores what rest and quiet time really means. "We have increasingly come to see rest as a luxury or reward," says Boes. "But in a world that always demands more, rest is a necessary counterforce. From the time-honoured principle of yin and yang, or the balance between action and relaxation, this evening you will discover what you need to stay mentally healthy."
About Anita Boes
Boes has endorsed the importance of more peace and quiet for many years. As a coach, she helps people live more lightly by creating space for relaxation and personal growth. Nature is a common thread here. Since 2016, she has offered silence walks and walking coaching in the Noordoostpolder and walking retreats on Terschelling.
Mental health week
This evening is part of Mental Health Week, which has the theme 'Bridging' this year. This focuses on bridging mental barriers and strengthening connection with yourself and others. Especially for this week, the library is putting together a book table with books on the theme, which can of course also be borrowed on site.
The evening starts at 19.30, with a walk-in from 19.00. Admission to the lecture is free, but ticket reservation is required. This can be done easily via the FlevoMeer Library website, by phone or at the front desk of the library itself.
