Wishing Lights on the Lake

On Saturday 26 September 2026, the Schoterplas near Bant will provide the backdrop for ‘Wishing Lights on the Lake’. During this special evening, visitors will set a wishing light afloat as a symbol of hope, remembrance or a wish for the future. The proceeds from the event will go towards the further development of the Kuinderburcht in the Kuinderbos.

From 6.00 pm, visitors are welcome to enjoy a relaxing evening with atmospheric music, food and drink, and plenty of opportunity to socialise. Between 7.30 pm and 8.30 pm, the wishing lights will be set adrift on the water. Together, the hundreds of lights create an impressive and atmospheric sight on the Schoterplas. The evening will conclude with an atmospheric light show.

Wish Lights on the Lake is an initiative of Lions Noordoostpolder, in collaboration with Staatsbosbeheer. Through this event, the organisation aims to bring people together and contribute to the preservation and further development of the Kuinderburcht. The proceeds will be used, amongst other things, to build a new entrance gate, a bridge, a knight’s trail and information facilities, so that this special historic site can be enjoyed even more fully.

The organisation invites everyone to come together for a special evening and literally shine a light on what matters most to them.
