The construction of Kraggenburg began in 1949, but even before reclamation, there was an Old Kraggenburg: a former (peninsular) island in the Zuiderzee, with a lighthouse built on a mound. This Old Kraggenburg still exists and is definitely worth a visit. Click here for more information.
Kraggenburg is a true recreational village, surrounded by beautiful forests, nature reserves and farmlands with wide views. Explore the area via the various cycling routes on the many well-maintained cycle paths. Alternately, you ride through the forest, over the dike along the water with views of the old country, over the mound Oud-Kraggenburg and along the vast fields.
In the Zwarte Meer, where a breakwater used to connect the lightkeeper's house of Oud-Kraggenburg to the mainland at Genemuidenlag, today lies the landscape artwork PIER+HORIZON by Paul de Kort. It consists of a small section of restored breakwater surrounded by 20 floating crags.or
At Netl you will find dunes, swimming water, bamboo forests, hiking trails and natural play materials. There is also an obstacle course and a pitch and putt course. The park thus guarantees a day of old-fashioned outdoor play, fanatical sports, great swimming or a brisk walk.
The Voorsterbos is Europe's first mushroom paradise. Of the 3500 species of mushrooms in the Netherlands, you will find no less than 800 in the Voorsterbos. But above all, be surprised by the enormous variety of trees, plants and animals.
This is a cosy park with various equipment such as an air trampoline, cable car, climbing and scrambling tower, wobble bridge, go-kart track, swings and spring rollers for children up to 12 years old. For the older ones, there is an 18-hole miniature golf course, boules court, archery and treasure hunts.
Do you like mountain biking? Then indulge yourself on the MBT route Kraggenburg! It runs right across the former Zuiderzee soil and through the Voorster forest. Enjoy nature while tackling many technical sections and two small height differences with your mountain bike.
Right in front of Hotel Van Saaze is a shared bike hub. You can reserve the e-bikes in this hub, unlock them and pay for the time used afterwards via the app of Deelfiets Nederland. This allows you to take a nice bike ride through the area, even if you don't have your own bike (with you).
At restaurant Buitengewoon de Voorst, uniquely located in the middle of the more than 1,000-hectare Voorsterbos near Kraggenburg, you can enjoy the à la carte menu and delectable pancakes. Behind the restaurant is a large and freely accessible playground.
