The struggle with water has made the Dutch into experts in water management. This is reflected in the national monument Waterloopbos, a former open-air laboratory. Today, we still share the knowledge gained here with the rest of the world. In the Waterloopbos, you will find remnants of scale models in which tests were carried out for water works at home and abroad. The scale models are now overgrown by nature, giving them a mystical appearance. On Urk, people live off the sea.
