The Waterloopbos is not just any forest in Flevoland. You will find scale models of 35 famous waterworks, which were fully tested here from the 1950s to the 1990s by Het Waterloopkundig Laboratorium. So Abidjan, Bangkok and Rotterdam lie fraternally side by side in the Dutch Noordoostpolder. Meanwhile, the water scientists have left the open-air laboratory and the scale models have been returned to nature.
Travel journalist Sander Groen takes you on a 5-kilometre audio walk through the forest and tells you all about these special waterworks. The route has 15 stops. The starting point is bus stop Marknesse, Voorsterweg, accessible by bus 71 from Zwolle train station. The end point is Pavilion Het Proeflab, where you can enjoy a snack and/or a drink during opening hours.
The Waterloopbos is accessible free of charge from sunrise to sunset. Walk with Sander through the wonderful Waterloopbos. The audio route is also free. Download it via izi .Travel.
