This is route 2 of the cyclecast about drowned villages in the Noordoostpolderder. It starts and ends in Espel. The route takes you into the past, which may make you look at the present in a very different way. Along the way, Maritime Archaeologist Yftinus van Popta talks about the villages that once lay in this area. And we meet Dirk, who lets you listen to the legends he digs up from the polder clay with his story detector.
You can cycle the route while listening to the stories, or you can get off now and then and sit on a bench to listen. Just what you feel comfortable with.
Tips: at a Wifi point, download the route to your phone and turn on your location facilities. Do not press start in Espel until you are ready to go.
