The Noordoostpolder is an ideal cycling destination. Especially for visitors who do not have their own bicycle, there are six bicycle hubs spread throughout the Noordoostpolder. So you can still enjoy cycling if you came by car or public transport. A bicycle hub has electric shared bicycles that you can easily reserve up to an hour in advance via the app Deelfiets Nederland at € 0.75 per 15 minutes / € 3 per hour.
The six bike hubs in the Noordoostpolder can be found at Museum Schokland, Hotel Van Saaze, Fletcher Hotel Marknesse, Bij Ons in de Wellerwaard, the bus station in Emmeloord and the camper van site at Schoterplas. Handy, especially if you travel by public transport: you can return the bike at another hub in the region, even in National Park Weerribben-Wieden and Giethoorn. So you decide how long you will cycle and where to go.
Tip: Going hiking in the Northeast Polder? Then consider combining that with renting a shared bike! Get off the bus or park your car at one of the bike hubs, walk to another bike hub, unlock a bike there and ride back to the bus or your car. You can of course do this on your own, but you can also follow the routes we have already mapped out for you. Here we also indicate in advance which catering outlets and sights you will pass. If you follow one of these routes, you walk first and then return by bike via a slightly different route. But obviously you can also walk first and cycle back if you wish.
