Do you want to travel sustainably or don't have a car? Then why not take public transport? By train, you can travel as far as Lelystad, Dronten or Kampen. From there, take the bus to the Emmeloord bus station or a bus stop in one of the villages in the Noordoostpolder. Check 9292.nl for all public transport options, as well as for up-to-date travel information. Good to know: you can easily check in and out using your debit card, credit card or mobile phone. Cycling is great in the Noordoostpolderder. You can enjoy this even if you don't have a bicycle with you. In various places in the Noordoostpolder , you can rent bicycles, both from bicycle specialists and, for example, from Museum Schokland.
Especially for visitors who do not have their own bicycle (with them), there are six bicycle hubs spread across the Noordoostpolder and another 14 just across the border in Overijssel. So you can still enjoy cycling if you came by car or public transport. Shared e-bike hub are available at a bicycle hub and can easily be reserved via the app Deelfiets Nederland.
Sometimes you need something practical during a bike ride: a toilet, a tyre repair kit or a charger for your electric bike. Or maybe you need shelter from the rain or sun, or you are thirsty and want to refill your water bottle. You can do this at specially equipped bicycle break points. See where they are and what else you can do while you are there.
In the Noordoostpolder , we have three TOPs, or Tourist Transfer Points. Here you can conveniently park your car and follow a beautiful route on foot or by bike. Those routes can be found on the TOPs and often also via signposted routes that start here. The TOP in the Waterloopbos and the one on Schokland also have catering facilities, so you are well catered for.
