Every two years, the Verlichte Boerderijenroute (Illuminated Farms Route) can be driven in the Noordoostpolder der. During this outing for young and old, part of the polder is literally put in the light. The next edition of the Illuminated Farms Route will take place on 11, 12 and 13 and on 18, 19 and 20 December 2026.
Riding the route will introduce you to the outlying area of the Noordoostpolder, in the north of Flevoland, in a unique way. Discover the diversity of the polder and learn more about its history and contemporary developments.
The car route is about 40 kilometres long and includes some 100 farms, workers' houses, water works and objects in lights. The light route is supported by an audio tour. While driving, visitors will learn more about the surroundings, farms and other places of interest through audio clips.

Both driving the route and the audio tour are free. Just make sure you follow the route in the right direction to avoid congestion along the way. The 2026 route will be announced during 2026 via the website lichtroutenoordoostpolder.nl.
Food, drink and sanitary facilities are available along the way at the various experience locations. There is also plenty for children to expend their energy there. This makes the Illuminated Farmhouses Route a fun and educational outing for the whole family.
