The tenth edition of the Land Art Weekend celebrates the special connection between water and land. Two forces that made Flevoland what it is today. With a special programme of music, poetry, sound art and workshops, the foundation invites visitors to experience the unique Flevoland landscape art in a new way.

About the theme: everything above water
Flevoland is no ordinary landscape. It is a landscape conceived, built and fought for on water. The water that was pumped out of the polder when it was built to make the land usable is still monitored and managed on a daily basis. With works like Deltawerk// and PIER+HORIZON, artists permanently put this relationship between man and water to the test. The theme of this anniversary edition focuses on this eternal tension and connects it to the landscape artworks in the polder. Because nowhere else in the world will you find so much land art together as in Flevoland.

Highlights from the programme:

  • Composer Miranda Driessen presents a new composition for wind harps, titled LIJN, especially for the Land Art Weekend. The work responds directly to PIER+HORIZON by Paul de Kort and can be heard on Saturday 4 July.
  • Exhibition in collaboration with The WaterSchool by Makkink & Bey: about water as a constant threat and daily task, linked to land art and Flevoland heritage.
  • Walking conversation along PIER+HORIZON Art historian Geert Pruiksma takes visitors on a lively walking conversation along PIER+HORIZON, with the work of Paul de Kort and the Flevoland landscape as a backdrop.
  • Sound art by Bouke Groen Sound artist Bouke Groen is creating new audio work especially for the weekend at Deltawerk// by RAAAF & Atelier de Lyon in the Waterloopbos. Get carried away by the audible and invisible layers of sound and water.
  • For children aged 4 to 12, there is also plenty to do! From catching water creatures in the Waterloopbos to making miniature land art with clay. Or go exploring in the Waterloopbos during the OERRR treasure hunt led by Natuurmonumenten.
