Pioneers' barracks

In the early years of the Northeast Polder, the polder workers, the real pioneers, had to be housed in temporary accommodation. This was done in barracks. Tollebeek still has such a barrack, which was once part of Urkervaart barracks camp.

These days, the pioneer barracks are used by the local darts club and can therefore not just be visited from the inside, but the exterior has been fully restored. In the process, the original appearance of the barrack has been approximated as far as possible, right down to the green colour. Even the garden again gives a good impression of what it must have looked like in the days of the pioneers.
