A day out? Go to Emmelerbos petting zoo in Emmeloord! You will find this farm in the middle of the forest. It is not just a petting zoo full of animals. Here, people with mental disabilities find a meaningful day out under the guidance of enthusiastic activity counsellors and animal caretakers.
Once a month, a children's activity is organised on a Wednesday afternoon. It is always busy then. The petting zoo is the destination for many a school trip or excursions by other organisations. It is also open at weekends, when there are no clients.
On the terrace you can enjoy hot and cold drinks with or without a pastry, sweets and chips, soup, a sandwich or poffertjes. There is also a playground where children can expend their energy.
