Schokland is a symbol of the battle against the encroaching water of the Zuiderzee. Unesco therefore awarded Schokland the special status of World Heritage Site back in 1995, the first Flevoland location to receive this honour.
The group accommodation 'De Pionier' is located together with group accommodation 'Het Landhuis' and the B&B rooms of Gastvrij Schokland directly on the footpath towards the former island. A tour of the island with a visit to the museum and the old church ruins can be done easily on foot or by bicycle. The Pionier is surrounded by its own garden, which is divided into a quiet garden on the north side and a playing field and terrace on the south side. This set-up ensures privacy for your group. There is also plenty of parking space on the premises.
The accommodation can accommodate up to 44 people, making it ideal for holding family and friends weekends, an association week/weekend, work weeks and/or summer camps.
The large accommodation area is divided into a dining area and a seating area. In the dining area there are large tables at which extensive meals can be eaten; there is a convenient pass-through counter to the kitchen in this area. However, playing games, workshops and watching TV are also possible in this area.
In the seating area, several cosy seating areas have been created, consisting of comfortable leather sofas and cosy wooden benches. There are also seating areas with standing tables and matching bar stools, for playing cards or other board games. Thanks to the modern style of the furnishings, this room has a very light and spacious feel.
In the kitchen you will find a cooking island with a built-in deep fryer and extractor hood. There is also a dishwasher, a large fridge, coffee machines, a microwave oven and several kettles. As you would expect from a group accommodation for 44 people, there are plenty of work tables and storage space in the kitchen.
