In the Waterloopbos you will find scale models of some thirty large waterworks from all over the world. The Delta Works were designed here, but also the ports of Rotterdam, Lagos, IJmuiden, Istanbul and Bangkok. For years, the Waterloopkundig Laboratorium conducted research in the Waterloop forest, mimicking reality with water, weirs, dams and wave machines. Meanwhile, the Waterloop forest has lost its original function. In 2016, it was named a national monument. Artists RAAAF | Atelier de Lyon were then asked by Natuurmonumenten to turn the famous 'Delta flume' into a work of art of stature. Deltawerk// became the title. It turned out great! From the walls of the 250-metre-long Delta flume, they sawed huge concrete panels that were then rotated and placed at different angles. This offers a magical experience of light and dark with magnificent views of the surrounding nature in between.
