Schoterveld is an 80-hectare nature and recreation area just north of Bant, right next to the Kuinder forest. The area was formerly zoned agricultural, but is now owned by site manager Staatsbosbeheer. The redevelopment of the area began in 2007 with the excavation of sand, which was used, among other things, for road construction in the region. To shield the area from the noise, light and sight of the nearby A6 motorway, a landscape wall was built around Schoterveld.
Recreation
The sand excavations created the Schoterplas, among other things. While this is not swimming water, it is still a beautiful addition to the landscape and a great view from camper village De Stronk, which has a beach with sunbathing area at the lake, and restaurant FENN's.

Besides a cam site, De Stronk is also an activity site, suitable for fairs, sports events and (company) parties, among other things. Other recreational facilities in Schoterveld include a course for equestrian events (including the annual Eventing Flevoland), a 4x4 agility track, space for a future cycle path and a spacious car park, which will have a TOP function: you can park your car there for free and then explore Schoterveld and the Kuinderbos by bike or on foot, if necessary using the route suggestions posted on the TOP (large column).
Don't have your own bike (with you)? Then just grab a share bike from the available bike hub, which you can book and pay for very easily via the app of Deelfiets Nederland. Last, but certainly not least, the long-established and popular sand sculpture route has been moved from the nearby Kuinderbos to the Schoterveld in September 2025. This route can be admired for a whole year, after which it will be renewed and given a new theme.
Spending the night in Schoterveld can be done at the aforementioned camper site (also suitable for caravans). For families, Natuurkampeerterrein De Veenkuil, just down the road in the Kuinderbos, is highly recommended. Those who prefer to stay at a holiday park choose the neighbouring Eigen Wijze.
Nature
Much attention is also paid to local nature. For instance, a bank swallow wall with over 100 nesting places has been constructed, there is a winter residence for ring snakes and there are 3 fauna passages for ring snakes, small mammals and amphibians. A special breeding pool has also been created for the natterjack toad and over 10 hectares of the Schoterveld are suitable for heathland development.

For a relaxing day of walking, cycling or lying on the beach of the Schoterplas, the Schoterveld is an asset for tourism and recreation in the Noordoostpolder.
