The Kuinderbos is the largest and oldest forest in the Noordoostpolder. This special nature reserve lies at the bottom of the former Zuiderzee and has been planted by Staatsbosbeheer since the 1950s. What was once barren polder land is now a rich forest landscape full of deciduous and coniferous trees, open water, wet forest edges and open fields. The Kuinderbos is a place where you can truly experience the silence of nature, while the flora and fauna surprise you again and again.
Staying in one of Cabiner's three off-grid nature cottages in the Kuinderbos means that nature literally starts on your doorstep. Here you can take endless walks along quiet paths and discover how each season brings its own colours and scents, spot birds and observe the rich flora and fauna. You can also enjoy the history, such as the remains of the Kuinderburcht and traces of the reclamation of the polder.
The cabins are close to the Kuinderplas, ideal for a refreshing dip on warmer days. The area is further perfect for both families and hikers, with routes you can make as short or as long as you like.
After you book a cabin, you will be given the exact coordinates of your stay. You cannot get to the nature cottage by car. You park your car in car park P1 at Hopweg 21A in Bant. From the car park you continue on foot, choosing from different routes ranging from less than 1 kilometre to about 13 kilometres.
Staying at Cabiner requires a certain mindset. Slow down. Moving with nature. Your stay does not start at the cabin, but at the first step into the forest, with everything you need on your back. You are a guest in a vulnerable area, in places where normally no one is allowed to stay. This is only possible if together we ensure peace, space and respect. No fire, no trash, no rush.
Cabiner asks you to go out prepared, embrace the silence and do little things differently than you might be used to. Things can go wrong, and that's okay. Adventure also means allowing the unknown.
Cabins at Cabiner in the Kuinderbos can accommodate a party of up to four people.
