Camp on a camping raft!
Spend a night on the water on the special camping raft. Floating camping, as a water lover you can indulge yourself. You can camp on the Veenkuil. There is a raft on which you can pitch your tent. Once on the raft, you can take a boat to and from the site. How romantic is that! Think crickets in the background and the relaxing can begin. At least, if the summer weather permits. Above all, bring your fishing rod too. On the raft there is a small possibility to light a campfire or have a barbecue.
Camp on the Tree Crown Plateau at 6 metres high!
The treetop plateau is located between five thick beech trees on nature campsite the Veenkuil at a height of 6 metres. Made of sturdy larix wood from trees grown in the Kuinderbos and sawn into beams and planks, the platform is shaped like a diamond, measures about 25 square metres and hangs from sturdy chains on the five sturdy beech trees. A wooden spiral staircase takes visitors up the plateau. Along the edges is a balustrade for safety with hooks in between where guy ropes can be fastened. On the plateau is a wood-burning stove for cosy sitting around a campfire. Last winter, a number of trees were cut away to provide a splendid view of the Kuinderplas from the plateau.
A maximum of 4 people can camp on the plateau at a time. Reservations for the treetop plateau can be made via h.bergman@staatsbosbeheer.nl .
The Kuinderbos is home to many species of plants, mushrooms and breeding birds. As a camper, you have access to the deer viewing hut. And only campers are allowed to swim and fish in the designated parts of the Kuinderplas. If you want to go sailing, you can borrow the forester's boat. Or take a trip to the nature reserves De Weerribben, De Rottige Meenthe or the IJsselmeer.
Nature campsite Veenkuil opened its 'doors' as early as 1963. A special feature of this site is that you can enter the water directly from the site for a swim. Children won't be bored for a minute here. And if they have had enough of the water for a while, there are all kinds of play equipment. The site consists of a large grassy field with trees in the middle, and a number of smaller fields. If you only have a tent, you can get a pitch overlooking the Kuinderplas. You can reserve the group field and three real teepees.
