Staying at Oud Kraggenburg

On the grounds of Oud Kraggenburg, the former peninsula in the Zuiderzee that is now part of the Noordoostpolder, there is a small holiday chalet. This chalet, hidden behind trees and shrubs and with a beautiful view over the landscaped garden and surrounding arable land, can be rented for a unique stay in a unique location.

The cottage of about 50 m2 is cosily furnished and suitable for two persons. The cottage consists of a sitting room with open kitchen, a bedroom (with double bed), an extra side room and a simple toilet/shower room. The cottage has spacious terraces and a canopy.

From the cottage, you can walk across the grounds around the old lighthouse with the old breakwaters and lots of greenery. The site is located on a cycle junction route, including the Zuiderzee route, which runs along here. Within cycling distance are World Heritage Site Schokland, National Monument Waterloopbos and recreation park Netl, as well as various former Zuiderzee harbour towns such as Vollenhove, Blokzijl and Kuinre.

Old Kraggenburg was an island in the former Zuiderzee with a lighthouse: a house with a lighthouse built on a mound. At the foot of this mound was a small inner harbour where sailing ships and steamboats could once take shelter during fog and storms. Oud Kraggenburg has stood high above the surrounding fields since the reclamation of the Noordoostpolder . It is a national monument and the site is open to the public only during open monument day.
