Wellerwaard is a new leisure and nature reserve in the Noordoostpolder, just outside Emmeloord. Why not take a walk in the countryside here, with or without your dog, go for a swim or play on this lovely Flevoland beach? This area is also ideal for cycling.
Don’t have a bike (with you)? No problem: there’s a bike-share hub right on the doorstep. Book, unlock and pay for your e-bike via the Deelfiets Nederland app. Oh, and if you’re going for a walk or a cycle anyway, do take a look at the ‘Verdronken Dorp’ viewing panel along the cycle route.
There’s plenty more to do in Wellerwaard. Swimming, for example. Or picnicking, playing sport and sunbathing. There’s a children’s play area and volleyball nets. There are also a number of stone slabs where you can have a barbecue. Just make sure you bring your own equipment (and take it home again).

If you prefer a freshly prepared lunch or dinner where all you have to do is sit down at the table, you can visit restaurant Bij Ons. There you can enjoy an ice cream, a snack and a drink while overlooking the beach and the swimmers.
The swimming season officially runs from 1 May to 1 October.
