The meandering Oude Haven walking route through the Kuinderbos starts at Kuinre's old harbour. In the Middle Ages, Kuinre was a thriving trading and coastal town. Shippers from all corners of the Zuiderzee came to trade their wares and take on cargo. The old harbour lay on the outside of the Havendijk where the rivers Kuinder (also called Tjonger) and Linde met in the Zuiderzee.
The old harbour silted up and eventually became inaccessible to ships. The reclamation of the Noordoostpolder in 1942 brought a definitive end to Kuinre as a port town. Today, it is a village in the province of Overijssel, just outside the new Noordoostpolder. The old harbour that lost its function has been restored to its former state. The area is popular with ring snakes and dragonflies. Along this route are wooden sculptures by world champion motor sawyer John van Kampen....

The walking route starts at the car park on Hopweg (GPS location), is 2 kilometres long and marked in dark blue. Dogs are not allowed along.
