The recreational cycling route 'Polderproeven Fletcher' starts and ends at Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant Marknesse, idyllically adjacent to the Waterloopbos, where it is great walking. You stay here in a completely renovated historic building, which used to house the offices of the Waterloopkundig Laboratorium. Now you will find 112 comfortable rooms and Bar Bistro Duco Marknesse, a hip restaurant with a cosy terrace. The route is ideal if you want to explore the area by bike from your holiday address.
There are more Polderproeven routes in the Noordoostpolder and they all have two things in common: they start and end at an overnight location and they pass at least one farm shop. In addition, as many cycle junctions, restaurants and places of interest as possible are incorporated in the routes.

The Polderproeven route from Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant Marknesse is about 25 kilometres long and fine to do on an ordinary bicycle. Don't have a bicycle with you or would you rather do the route on an e-bike? Then grab a shared bike from the hub in the hotel car park. Want to know how to use one? Then take a look here. Fletcher also rents out e-bikes and e-choppers itself, by the way.
The 'Polderproeven Fletcher' route takes you across both new and old land, or partly through the Noordoostpolder and partly through Overijssel, along the former Zuiderzee coast around Vollenhove. On this part of the route, you have a beautiful view of the Vollenhover Canal, which separates the new and old land. Also fun: a bicycle ferry crossing is part of this route. With a hand winch, you pull the bicycle ferry across the Zwolse Vaart. Please note: the cycle ferry is only in service from 1 March to 30 November.
You will pass several catering establishments along the way, where you can have a nice lunch or a bite to eat. You will find them linked to this route as intermediate stops. For each stopover, you can click through to more information about the location in question. Some of these locations are not exactly on the route, but are well worth a short diversions.
Be sure to light up at the farm shop of Vink Fruitboerderij in Kraggenburg. There they have a large orchard, where apples, pears and cherries grow, which are of course for sale in the farm shop. But you can also buy strawberries, raspberries, beets, cauliflower and many more locally grown fruits and vegetables. Not to mention locally made jams and juices. Take some with you for the evening in your accommodation, so you can relive your day in Noordoostpolder with the tastiest local produce. Polder tasting is what we call it.
