Right next to Emmeloord's bus station you will find several catering establishments, such as Brasserie AanDeel and Hotel-Restaurant 't Voorhuys. So you can immediately grab a terrace after arriving by bus. The main shopping street, the Lange Nering, starts near 't Voorhuys. Discover which national chains are located here, but especially which local shops and boutiques.
If it's lunchtime, you can stay in the centre of Emmeloord, but you can also cycle to the Wellerwaard in advance, as the cosy beach pavilion Bij Ons in de Wellerwaard is located there. The choice is yours. Unlock a bike at the shared bike hub near the bus station and follow the gpx route to the beach. Below is an indication of where you will pass, so be sure to make a detour if you feel like and have time to check something out along the way. And afterwards: paddle out and enjoy the sun.
At Bij Ons in Wellerwaard, by the way, there is also a bicycle-sharing hub. You can hand in your bike there and pay for the time you used it, so you don't keep paying for the time you spend at the beach. But note: in the meantime, others can take the bikes available here and then you have to walk back, as there is no bus here. But oh well, that's no punishment either: it's a nice walk of just over four kilometres to the bus stop 'Waterland' (on Banterweg, towards Bant) or of five and a half kilometres back to the bus station. Don't feel like walking? Then do not return your bike until you are back at the Emmeloord bus station.
